New Oregano Screens

Unlike previous designs, the oregano series comprises of a number of individual plants without a fixed composition in terms of installation & the relative positioning of each panel. Concealed bracketing of varied length can be used to create sculptural, three dimensional outcomes. These screens were used by a trend forecaster, Genty Marshall, New Black Global Trends for a recent conceptual space ‘Alone Together’.

Splash-backs

These are two examples of our splash-backs. The splash-backs are made from 6mm, toughened Starfire (low iron glass). The low iron content ensures that the glass is colour free so that the colours you select when customising your splash-back are not distorted. Our preference is for using Starfire glass with a white frost on the surface. This frost is fired onto the glass when it is toughened. The print design is applied to the reverse side of the glass so that when you view the graphic image, it is softened by the frosted finish and has the aesthetic of a shadow rather than a hard-edged image.

The composition, colour and in some instances the design of the panels are customisable. We have a number of base artworks from which to commence the customisation process. Having determined the colour pallet, we provide 2-3 composition options and four 300 x 300mm colour samples from which to select. Additional colour samples can be obtained, however, these are charged at cost. These samples can be placed behind a frosted glass sample in order to get a true representation of the colour once it is printed onto the reverse side of the glass.

Gingko Bench

Steel Gingko Bench
This bench, despite it’s organic appearance, is really comfortable and strong. We are currently offering it at the following dimensions, (L x W x H) = 2400 x 400 x 400mm, however, I will introduce two smaller benches in the coming month. The bench is constructed from 3mm steel which we recommended zinc plating prior to powdercoating for outdoor use. There is a reasonable amount of weight in the bench so it should be specified for use in an area where it is moved for cleaning or mowing purposes rather than on a more frequent basis. The powdercoating range which we are currenly using is slightly textured. This creates a subtle, interesting surface texture which has aesthetic appeal whist masking any imperfections in the steel. This allows us to maintain a cost-effective price-point.

Splashbacks

Splashback Release, Design Ex 2009
Our new splashback range features print designs on the reverse side of starfire (low iron) glass with a white ceramic frost on the surface which is baked onto the toughened product. All the designs can be customized in terms of design, layout and colour. I have chosen to include white in all of these designs, however, it is not necessary. The glass is available in 6 and 10mm. I have used this frosted glass in a shower recess over a 3 year period and it continues to be easy to clean, unlike the porus surface of sandblasted glass.

Within the next few days I will post the design options available. In addition to these I have a reasonably extensive range of stationery from which designs can be drawn. These would refinement so that it could be scaled up, however, this is an available option.

Corten Screens

Freestanding, Layered, Gingko, Corten Screens, Design Ex 2009.
Below are images of our new layered corten steel gingko screens. The two sides of the screens have been rusted differently, the front is tonal and rusty while the reverse side is the colour of steel with relatively subtle rusty horizontal streaks. To an extent, the rusting process can be controlled and manipulated to produce interesting affects. This aesthetic can be retained if the screens are used internally, however, outdoors they will develop a darker rust patina unless sealed.

Framed Screens
The frames are made from 3mm corten steel. The screens are welded into a frame which is 400mm deep. Flat brackets on the top of the frames fasten adjoining panels leaving a 20mm space between them. Holes can be laser cut into the base of the frames so that they can be dynabolted to a foundation. In an interior context, four frames when fastened together using top brackets are secure without requiring dynabolts or safety wires. If a smaller series is installed or if the screens are used outdoors or on an uneven surface safety wires or dynabolts essential. Safety wire lugs are discretely positioned on the top of all our framed screens.
